Arriving at Alexandria Port

Alexandria was founded by Alexander the Great and became the intellectual capital of the ancient Mediterranean. Today its Corniche curves around the Eastern Harbour, with the Citadel of Qaitbay standing on the site of the ancient Pharos lighthouse.

From Alexandria Port you can spend an unhurried day in the city, among its Greco-Roman monuments, catacombs and the modern Bibliotheca Alexandrina, or travel inland by road to Giza and Cairo for the Pyramids and the city's great museums.
